American Quarter Horse - Mare
By Elans Legacy — carrying the influence of Elans Playboy and Freckles Playboy — and out of Lenas Little Jewel, by the legendary Smart Little Lena out of a Colonel Freckles daughter, Elans Smart Jewel is an AQHA mare whose pedigree reads like a who’s who of Western performance royalty.
Smart Little Lena. Freckles Playboy. Doc O’Lena. Colonel Freckles. These aren’t just names on a pedigree page — they are the foundation of the modern cow horse, the cutting horse, and the ranch horse. And Elans Smart Jewel carries them all.
As a broodmare, she has already proven what that pedigree can do. She is the dam of Elans Smart Cowboy — our promising young AQHA stallion by Blu Boons Checkmate — and of BCR Cat Got Smart, our stunning 2026 chestnut roan colt by Vinny (Metallic Cat), who at one month old was already stopping on a dime and jumping sideways three times like a cat. Nobody taught him that. That’s Elans Smart Jewel’s contribution.
She is the cornerstone of the Bear Creek Ranch Quarter Horse program — intelligent, athletic, and throwing foals with the mind, movement, and cow sense that ranch horse and cutting horse competitors spend a lifetime looking for.
Elans Smart Jewel — generations of cow-horse royalty, two exceptional sons, and the foundation of everything Bear Creek Ranch is building in the Quarter Horse pen.
